MANILA, Philippines Ayala Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (AC Health), in partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has launched a collaborative effort to combat the growing HIV epidemic in the Philippines. This initiative, announced around World AIDS Day, emphasizes collective action in improving access to stigma-free care and life-saving services for those affected by HIV. As part of the partnership, AC Health will utilize its extensive healthcare network to expand HIV prevention, screening, and treatment services, making them more accessible across the country.
Key elements of the partnership include onboarding trained healthcare providers onto the KonsultaMD telehealth platform and expanding HIV testing beyond traditional healthcare facilities. AC Health will also leverage its pharmaceutical units, IE Medica and MedEthix, to import and distribute essential HIV medications and technologies, ensuring they reach local communities through Generika Drugstore. Meanwhile, USAID will support these efforts by providing technical expertise, engaging communities, and offering free HIV self-testing kits to improve early diagnosis and treatment.
“Our mission is to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for every Filipino,” said Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Chairman of AC Health. “This partnership with USAID is a crucial step toward bridging the gaps in HIV prevention and care. By equipping our network with specialised training, we’re bringing essential health services to underserved populations and advancing our commitment to public health in the Philippines.”
