Recently, AstraZeneca revealed that Iskra Reic has been named as the EVP of International and whose primary responsibility will be to open up and expand the company’s operations in one of the biggest and most complex markets in the world. Her tasks will involve those strategic regions of the world, namely China and Asia, Eurasia, the Middle East & Africa, Latin America, Australia, & New Zealand. This move underlines AstraZeneca’s strategy in the internationalisation of these quickly growing healthcare markets.
Iskra has twenty years of leadership experience at AstraZeneca, having started in the company in 2001. She has effectively provided team leadership throughout the region of Central and Western Europe and Eurasia and the Middle East and Africa. In 2017, she joined the company’s senior executive team as EVP for Europe and Canada. More recently, Iskra led AstraZeneca’s Vaccines and Immune Therapies business, which created and delivered numerous novel COVID-19 and RSV vaccines, cultivated key strategic partnerships, and drove global access to the vital treatments.
Speaking of his confidence in her, CEO Pascal Soriot stated that Iskra is a great visionary who has significantly contributed to the improvement of patient’s access to innovative therapies. In the following interview, Iskra said that she was looking forward to being part of the next step in the region’s development. “I am very proud to have this opportunity and to work with our partners and colleagues to bring innovative therapeutics to help improve patients’ lives,” she said. Iskra takes up the role as Leon Wang, the former show host, is still on leave due to accusations of bribery in China.
