AstraZeneca Plans Rs 250 Crore Investment for Chennai GCC Expansion

AstraZeneca India Private Limited (AZIPL), the Global
Capability Centre of pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, announced on July 4 that
it will be investing Rs 250 crore ($30 million) to expand its operations in
Chennai.
"This investment aims to grow our Global Innovation and
Technology Centre (GITC) in Chennai," the company revealed. "The
expansion will create nearly 1,300 new roles dedicated to fostering innovation,
boosting efficiency, and optimizing global operations."
Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa expressed his
excitement about the expansion, stating, "We are delighted to see
AstraZeneca enhancing their capabilities by leveraging the vast talent pool in
Tamil Nadu. Their commitment to reinvest and expand in our state is a strong
validation of our people, talent, and supportive policies."
He further emphasized, "The swift uptake of office
spaces in Chennai highlights Tamil Nadu's status as the Knowledge Capital of
India."
