Athenahealth Triumphs In UDS+ Synthetic Testing For FQHCs Just Before HRSA Deadline

Athenahealth, Inc., a top provider of network-enabled software and services for medical groups and health systems across the country, has successfully completed the Uniform Data System+ (UDS+) synthetic testing. This achievement is part of their ongoing efforts to support Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). By completing the UDS+ synthetic testing, athenahealth marks a significant milestone in backing the UDS+ program, which now mandates health centers to electronically submit de-identified patient data to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The Uniform Data System Modernization Initiative aims to overhaul the previously laborious process of submitting and analyzing UDS data by streamlining data submission and enhancing patient-level insights.

This modernization can assist FQHCs in boosting practice efficiency and making data-driven decisions, ultimately leading to expanded access and better patient outcomes for the most vulnerable communities. The submission of de-identified patient-level data will be facilitated through Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), in accordance with the electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) set by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Over 400 customer and partner applications utilize athenahealth’s extensive collection of FHIR and proprietary APIs to enhance their user experiences. athenahealth's backing of UDS+ utilizes the over 165,000 clinical integrations available to all athenaOne customers, including Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). Chad Dodd, Vice President of Product Management at Athenahealth, said “FQHCs provide care to some of the most vulnerable patient populations in the United States and we continue to invest in solutions and services that help them in that incredibly important mission. Completing UDS+ synthetic testing furthers our ability to support these health centers by ensuring they have the tools and technology needed to adhere to complex and evolving regulatory and reporting standards. Reducing the burden of regulatory changes for FQHCs allows them to focus on what matters most – improving the health of patients in need. We are committed to playing a part in enabling high-quality care in underserved communities across the country.”

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) remain essential to many underserved communities, dedicated to delivering quality healthcare to those in greatest need. Athenahealth's cutting-edge technology plays a pivotal role in supporting the nation's FQHCs, boasting a rapidly expanding client base of over 12,000 FQHC providers. These centers can leverage the full suite of athenaOne solutions, which include electronic health records (EHR), revenue cycle management (RCM), and patient engagement tools.
