Eton Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is taking a meaningful step toward helping people with Wilson Disease, a rare and serious genetic disorder, by acquiring Galzin® (zinc acetate). This vital medication plays a key role in managing the condition, giving patients hope and a better quality of life.
Supporting a Rare Community
Wilson Disease affects fewer than 5,000 people in the U.S., causing harmful copper buildup in the body. Galzin is FDA-approved as a maintenance treatment for patients who have already undergone initial therapy with a chelating agent. It helps manage copper levels, protecting patients from the damaging effects of this disease.
"Our mission has always been to support life-saving treatments for rare diseases," said Sean Brynjelsen, CEO of Eton Pharmaceuticals. "Galzin is a crucial medication for those with Wilson Disease, and we’re committed to ensuring these patients get the care and support they need."
A Patient-Centered Approach
Eton is dedicated to making treatment easier and more accessible through its Eton Cares patient support program, which offers:
- $0 co-pay for eligible patients with commercial insurance.
- Help navigating insurance coverage and ensuring prescriptions are fulfilled smoothly.
- Educational resources to empower patients and their families.
- Personalized assistance to make access to treatment stress-free.
Expanding Globally
The acquisition includes the European rights to the medication, known there as Wilzin®, which will continue to be distributed by Eton’s partner. This ensures that patients worldwide can benefit from this important treatment.
What’s Next
Eton plans to take over Galzin’s commercialization in the U.S. by early 2025. Their team of specialists will work closely with healthcare providers to ensure patients receive the support they need for a seamless transition.
By combining Galzin with the comprehensive services of Eton Cares, Eton Pharmaceuticals is not just delivering a product—it’s extending care, hope, and a brighter future to people living with Wilson Disease.
