Global Push for Cervical Cancer Elimination

World leaders at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro join WHO’s "Day of Action for Cervical Cancer Elimination," marked by illuminating Christ the Redeemer in teal. This global campaign highlights progress since the 2019 strategy launch, with 144 countries introducing HPV vaccines, 60 adopting HPV testing, and 83 integrating surgical services for cervical cancer treatment.

Countries worldwide are spearheading unique initiatives. Ethiopia aims to vaccinate 7 million girls with Gavi's support, while Rwanda targets WHO’s 90-70-90 elimination goals by 2027. India and South Africa focus on awareness and training efforts.

WHO emphasizes the need for equity, particularly for women in low-income countries, urging sustained investments and leadership to meet elimination milestones.
