As reported, Multiply Labs and Thermo Fisher Scientific took steps to automate cell therapy production processes. Multiply Lab brings in its robotic technology, and Thermo Fisher contributes its cell therapy instruments to automate the production of advanced therapies fully.
Automating the production of Advanced therapies not only saves time and effort but is also cost-effective for everyone to be able to afford. Automation encourages easy scale-up of the technology, as said by Xavier De Mollerat Du Jeu, the senior director of research and development at Thermo Fisher. He also shared that they are at engineering automation of their latest-generation closed system centrifuge, a key instrument in manufacturing cell therapy.
Automating the process will also cut down on labour costs. Contrary to traditional manufacturing, which requires four to eight operators, the end-to-end automated system requires only one operator.
