Pharma sector stresses HVAC compliance

The Indian pharmaceutical sector is concentrating on HVAC systems because of the recently amended Schedule M, which requires their tight application. This is in response to recent revisions that have emphasised the necessity of sophisticated HVAC system solutions in order to guarantee compliance. World Health Organisation (WHO) requirements must be followed when it comes to HVAC systems and water. In Bengaluru, the one-day 'PharmaConnect with HVAC & Refrigeration' event brought attention to how crucial modern HVAC systems are for preserving air quality, regulating humidity and temperature, avoiding infection, and guaranteeing product quality.

The need of an effective HVAC system in manufacture and storage was emphasised by Dr. BR Jagashetty, a former Karnataka state drugs controller and National Adviser (Drugs Control) to the Union health ministry. He pointed out that one of the most important and active industries in the world is the pharmaceutical sector in India, and that maintaining stringent working and storage standards is essential to the effectiveness, safety, and quality of life-saving treatments, prescriptions, and vaccines.

Additionally, he emphasised the importance of HVAC systems in maintaining worker safety and high-quality goods. By preserving a particular temperature range, adjusting the humidity or dehumidification, filtering and ventilating the air, and generating positive or negative pressure in particular areas, they regulate the climate inside the building. In order to maintain consistent airflow, HVAC also controls airflow within specified zones. This is important since uncontrolled airflow can lead to dust particles or other foreign objects re-entering the air stream.

Modern HVAC systems with cutting-edge monitoring and control capabilities assist in maintaining exact environmental conditions, satisfying legal requirements, enhancing sustainability and energy efficiency, cutting operational costs, and following greener trends in the business. HVAC systems also require validation and routine maintenance.
