Pharma Leaders Applaud Union Budget 2025-26, Call for Enhanced Funding

Healthcare and pharmaceutical leaders support Union Budget 2025-26 by demanding additional funding along with improved execution. The healthcare and pharmaceutical industry leaders applaud the Union Budget 2025-26 since they find it matches their sector requirements appropriately. Industry group members applaud the budget because it directs resources to healthcare facilities and permits expansion. Professionals within this field have noted that the budget would achieve better results if additional funding were available alongside superior execution methods. 

The Union Budget 2025-26 received praise from the CEO and founder of ‘Generic Aadhaar,’ Mr. Arjun Deshpande, who described it as a crucial development to establish India as a global health innovation leader. Deshpande praised Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's budget because it represented a forward-thinking innovation that strengthened the startup development in India. He acknowledged the government's defined dedication to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship through new openings for new businesses. Mr. Deshpande declared that budgetary measures will develop both the startup sector’s stability and sustainability through execution, which will boost innovation while improving funding accessibility and igniting entrepreneurial motivation to transform India into a global healthcare leader.

Dr. Sindoori Reddy, a Director of Strategy at Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad, also expressed approval of the budget due to its powerful approach toward India's healthcare development. The budget promotes health insurance availability through lower tax rates and aligns medical education with AI developments and affordable cancer treatment to establish healthcare importance for the nation.

Dr. Reddy praised the improvements made to the 'Heal in India' and 'Heal by India' strategies because these developments will assist India in meeting worldwide healthcare requirements with domestic high-quality care to shape a modernized health economy.

Dr. S. V. Veeramani, who served as the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil)’s past president, approved the 2025-26 Union Budget because of its benefits to the pharmaceutical sector. Dr. S. V. Veeramani stated that elevated budgetary provisions for MSMEs will improve the operational performance of pharma MSMEs. Dr. Veeramani praised the recent government policy to grant customs duty exemptions for 36 cancer drugs, which would decrease the financial strain on patients.

The leaders praised the Union Budget 2025-26 for promoting medical tourism through the ‘Heal in India’ initiative, highlighting easier visa norms and private sector collaboration to showcase India’s cost-effective, world-class healthcare. They also welcomed the ₹500 crore allocation for an AI development center, citing its potential to drive innovation in medical education and patient care.
