TekniPlex Healthcare will Give a Presentation on Blister Packaging Sustainability at The Pharma Days

According to the reports, the presentation on Blister Pack Sustainability: From Rightsizing to Recyclability will be delivered by Michiel van den Berg, the Global Head of Product Management at TekniPlex Healthcare, at The Pharma Days event on June 5-6 in Geneva. On June 5th, at 2:20 pm, van den Berg will address multiple avenues in light of rapidly evolving EU packaging sustainability regulations, focusing on the latest updates regarding the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. These exemptions will be reviewed in the upcoming years, with mandates to reduce packaging weight and volume expected to be implemented by 2030.

During the presentation, van den Berg will discuss several ways to enhance sustainability in blister packaging, including materials minimization, recyclable substrates, and incorporating an appropriate percentage of recycled content.

In conjunction with the presentation, TekniPlex Healthcare, at Stand C24 of The Pharma Days, will feature its range of environmentally-friendly blister packaging solutions. Recently, the company introduced a pharma-grade blister film with 30% post-consumer recycled content (PCR) on a mass balance basis. Partnering with Alpek Polyester’s Octal rDPET™ Sheet technology, TekniPlex’s Teknilid® Push polyester lidding creates a recyclable blister package wherever the polyester stream exists.

Additionally, TekniPlex Healthcare will exhibit the world’s first fully transparent recyclable mid-barrier blister package. Recyclable in geographies where the #5 (polypropylene) recycling stream is available, the mid-barrier blisters feature a polyolefin blister film paired with a barrier PP lidding film. The company will also showcase a recyclable polyester mono-material blister + lidding combination suitable for products that do not require barrier protection.

Furthermore, TekniPlex Healthcare will highlight its recently incorporated Pentafill® A25 Filling & Sealing Machine, which offers several improvements over previous models, such as heightened sterility and a smaller footprint. This filling machine can produce up to 25 five-vial strips (125 vials total) per minute, suitable for various viscosities in applications serving pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, nutraceuticals, and animal health markets.

Lastly, TekniPlex Healthcare will display its Flexapharm® SBC series of PVDC (polyvinylidene chloride) coated PVC structures, offering exemplary barriers against oxygen and moisture. Also on display will be an array of Aclar® laminates designed to preserve drugs' efficacy and shelf life with demanding environmental protection requirements.
