As reported, TriLink BioTechnologies has recently collaborated with Johns Hopkins University to fast-track groundbreaking research in RNA therapeutics. TriLink BioTechnologies is a Maravai LifeSciences company that provides life science reagents and services to its customers across the globe. This company has established a new centre within the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering, employing its RNA synthesis technology.
TriLink’s investment includes direct funding for the centre and access to its proprietary in-vitro transcription technology, CleanScript. This investment shall foster Hopkins researchers to advance mRNA development. Moreover, TriLink will also offer its technical expertise and access to other critical discovery and manufacturing supplies, further reducing the challenges to discovery and application.
Drew Burch, the President of Nucleic Acid Products, Maravai LifeSciences, said, “The collaboration with Johns Hopkins reinforces our commitment to advancing nucleic acid-based therapies”.
“Our participation in this centre of excellence allows TriLink to share its deep knowledge and expertise in nucleic acid production, helping to enable these researchers at Hopkins with the tools they need to develop advanced therapies to treat patients.”
Jeff Coller, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of RNA Biology and Therapeutics and a leader in messenger RNA stability and translation will be the centre's inaugural director, anchored in the Institute of NanoBioTechnology (INBT) and open this spring.
This centre unites Johns Hopkins specialists in RNA biology, genetic medicine, drug delivery, and biotechnology. The centre shall also function as a training hub for the future generation of RNA investigators and as a central hub for RNA researchers from various schools within the university.
