Veranova is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Scott Zugel as our new Global Vice President of Analytical Research Development Operations.
Dr. Zugel brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, with deep expertise in analytical method development for both small and large molecule drugs. His work has played a key role in securing New Drug Application (NDA) approvals across a broad range of therapeutic areas, especially in the complex realm of multi-API combination therapies.
A Proven Leader in Analytical Science
Most recently, Dr. Zugel led Analytical Development (USA) at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, where he successfully unified legacy teams working on biologics and synthetic molecules, forming a streamlined and collaborative department. He also played a pivotal role in centralizing Takeda’s GMP analytical labs and establishing the company’s first internal metrology team.
Before Takeda, he spent seven years at Pfizer Global R&D, progressing through various leadership roles and ultimately serving as a Laboratory Leader.
Academic and Professional Distinctions
Dr. Zugel earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Purdue University and holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Valparaiso University. He is widely respected in the field, with numerous publications and presentations to his name. He’s also an active member of the Analytical Leadership Group within the IQ Consortium and has received honors from Millennium and Pfizer for his scientific contributions. His academic accolades include fellowships from both the Purdue Research Foundation and the Brown-Wetherill Fellowship.
