WHO has released the list of its members for the Guidelines Development Group (GDG), which is responsible for developing the WHO updated Guidelines for managing advanced HIV disease. The group will convene virtually from 14-16th January 2025 to discuss details on the efficiency of CD4 testing for the identification of patients with advanced HIV disease, interventions for patients with advanced HIV disease who are released from the hospital after an illness, and the best treatment plan for managing a confirmed Kaposi Sarcoma patient. This is because this guidance will address individual and public health benefits.
Based on the WHO guideline for developing a guideline development group, the group’s members will be selected across the six WHO regions and serve in personal capacities. It is pertinent to mention that the members of the GDG are not commissioned and are paid for the services the organisation provides. Members of the GDG for this guideline were appointed by WHO technical staff based on their technical knowledge and skills, programme managers and health care workers, and members of the affected communities.
