Council of Scientific & Industrial Research
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is India's premier research and development organization, established in 1942. Operating under the Ministry of Science and Technology, it functions as an autonomous body dedicated to promoting scientific, industrial, and economic growth in the country.
The organization operates 37 laboratories and institutes, 39 outreach centers, 3 innovation centers, and 5 units across India, employing over 14,000 staff members, including approximately 4,600 scientists and 8,000 technical and support personnel.
